Episode #66: Summer Plans to Prepare for the Unknown

In this episode, Carrie and Tanya discuss summer plans to prepare for the unknown 2020-2021 school year.  At this time, we are not sure if we will be back in the classroom with students, doing distance learning, or some sort of hybrid of both.  It can be a scary and daunting time for music educators to look ahead because so many things are unknown.  However, it's important to be proactive and do things know to plan and advocate for our programs as we look forward.

Things we talked about:

Thank you to Nyssa Brown from Music Education Forward for this helpful framework!

Questions to help guide planning this summer:
  • What do we do in place of singing games and folk dancing?
  • What instrumental experiences can we provide?
  • What does music literacy look like?
  • How can Kodály-inspired music education be taught within a project-based learning or inquiry model?
  • How can we keep social emotional in the forefront of all that we do?
