Episode #79: Top 3 Episodes for our 3 Year Anniversary!

In this episode, Carrie and Tanya discuss our top 3 episodes as a celebration of our 3 year podcasting anniversary! We discuss what things are still relevant and helpful in these 3 episodes as well as things that we would say or do differently now. Thank you to all of the listeners who have been with us for these 3 years. We appreciate your support!

Main Theme: Our top 3 most listened to episode throughout the years

#3: Episode 49: Focus on Kindergarten

#2: Episode 22: Songs, Games, and Activities for the First Days of School

#1: Episode 4: Classroom Management

“When you plant lettuce, if it does not grow well, you don't blame the lettuce. You look for reasons it is not doing well. It may need fertilizer, or more water, or less sun. You never blame the lettuce. Yet if we have problems with our friends or family, we blame the other person. But if we know how to take care of them, they will grow well, like the lettuce. Blaming has no positive effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason and argument. That is my experience. No blame, no reasoning, no argument, just understanding. If you understand, and you show that you understand, you can love, and the situation will change.”

-Thich Nhat Hanh

Know Better, Do Better

Tanya will be removing the song "Dinah" from one her TPT products. This is a good reminder to look at products, blogs, and websites you have out in the world that may contain repertoire that you no longer include in your classroom or curriculum. For your folk song collection, we recommend putting a note on a song you no longer teach with a brief description of why, rather than just throwing it out completely. Remove songs from your lesson plans and concept plans, not necessarily your song collection.

Work Smarter, Not Harder

Carrie has been using Nearpod for distance learning, especially for doing dictation and writing activities digitally.

Coda

Carrie has been enjoying The Queen's Gambit on Netflix.

Tanya has been enjoying 11.22.63 on Hulu.
