Resources mentioned in this episode:

Know Better, Do Better

Karen shares her thoughts about what we consider a "beautiful" singing voice in our music classrooms. Rather than prioritizing and valuing singing in a head voice at a specific pitch level, we can encourage students to use their singing voice in whatever way is natural to the by simply saying "thank you" after they sing to you.

Work Smarter, Not Harder

Karen reminds us to "hive mind" and share research on song literature and other musical culture and shared an example about the research she has done and shared about "The Canoe Song." Be sure to listen to the episode to hear what Karen has discovered about this song. The document "Songs with a Questionable Past" as compiled by Lauren McDougal is a great example of group research as well.
