Know Better, Do Better

Carrie talks about using "Musician of the Day" listening activities to build community in the music room. Recently, she's had success with doing a "staff favorites" theme where she's been playing musicians or groups that are favorites of teachers and staff members and then the students have to guess who's favorite it is. For more thoughts on building community, check out this blog post by Ashley Cuthbertson.

Work Smarter, Not Harder

Tanya's performance tip is to post a visual chart for families that shows them where their child's class or group will be standing during the performance so they can seat themselves in a place where they can see well. You can email the chart out ahead of time, print pictures of this chart and post at entry way of the performance space, and/or put the visual in the program.

Coda

Carrie recommends listening to Avi Kaplans new EP "Move Our Souls"

Tanya recommends watching Poker Face - new season coming soon!
