Decolonizing the Music Room is an excellent resource for culturally responsive teaching strategies, training, and content. Brandi-Waller Pace, who is the founder and executive direction of Decolonizing the Music Room, often presents workshops around the country. She will be presenting for the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association on 1/13/24.

Work Smarter, Not Harder

When consider classroom decor and visuals, please remember to keep it simple and be careful not to overwhelm or overstimulate your students. In this article from Edutopia, the recommendation is that 20-50% of your wall space should be kept empty. Especially at the start of the year, its ok to have blank wall and bulletin boards. This is also a great time saver so you can spend more time on on excellent lesson plans rather than decorating your room. Check our Carrie's classroom tour from last school year if you are looking for an example of what I do.

  1. Tanya mentioned about the Snail, Snail video with the parachute. I would love to see how you both do this in Kindergarten so everyone gets a turn.
